What do these terms collectively describe? Results! Whether you agree or disagree with the direction our nation is headed ethically, intellectually, politically, educationally, socially, or civically you you would no doubt agree our nation has become data driven society. It should be no suprise then that our schools are also evaluated by data driven testing outcomes. In short, all parents want to know that their children are receiving a quality education. If not, why not? Am I right?
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as "The Nation's Report Card" is the only national representative and continuing assessment of whaat America's children know and can do in the various school subject areas.
Well, that report is in and it's GREAT NEWS for our Lutheran Schools ... again! I five of the eight tested categories Lutheran Schools finished in first place. In the other three categories they came in srcond place. The subject areas and grades tested
are as follows: Science Grades 4th, 8th, and 12th First Place. English Grades 4th, 8th, and 12th First Place. Social Studies/ History/Civics, First Place. Composition/Writing Grades 4th, 8th, First Place. In 12th grade Second place. Mathematics 4th, 8th, First place. In 12th Grade Second Place. And finally, the Composit results (All six areas combined) First Place.
Teat data results were gathered from the following groups: States Public Schools, Other Religious groups, Private Non-sectarian schools, State's Catholic Diocese Schools, Bureau of Indian Affairs Tribal Schools, Department of Defence Military Schools, States' Departments of Education, Lutheran Schools(LCMS, WELS, ELS) and Conservative Christian Schools(Baptist, Episcopalian)
Some might say that Lutheran School parents are more involved, more concerned, more committed, or attuned to their children's unique learning styles. Perhaps! However, students attending Lutheran Schools are blessed to have God fearing parents that are very concerned about the education they receive. In fact, attending a Lutheran School is by their "choice!"
Yes, Lutheran Schools are unique. We give thanks for church members, teachers, school board members, administrators,w
Pastors and congregations that continue to strive for excellence as they serve God with their gifts, talents, time and treasure! To God alone be all glory! AMEN.
